From October 10 to November 2, the third edition of MyMetaStories combines an online film festival with a special edition set within the Minecraft universe. The program includes six feature films, available in six languages — German, English, Spanish, French, Italian, and Portuguese.
Ranging from comedies and dramas to science fiction, road movies, coming-of-age stories, and even musicals, the festival’s line-up highlights the diversity of forms and voices coexisting in contemporary Europe. These are the feature films presented at the third edition of the festival — a project supported by the Creative Europe MEDIA Programme of the European Commission, which aims to foster new ways of connecting young audiences with European cinema:
Heads or Fails (Lenny Guit, Harpo Guit, 2024)
Amande Pigeon, 26, unemployed and drowning in debt, scrapes by in Brussels. She’s also a gambling enthusiast who loves taking risks because, for Amande, any bet is a good one. Well, almost any — except perhaps the craziest one, the one she hasn’t dared to make yet: the bet on love. “With their characteristic humor — absurd and biting — the Guit brothers draw a liberating portrait of an anti-heroine, a resourceful and elusive woman who faces the precariousness of urban life and the vital role of play with wit and style.” Starring María Cavalier-Bazan, Catherine Ringer, and Melvil Poupaud.

Breaking the Ice (Clara Stern, 2022)
Mira, a young woman in her twenties, escapes the pressure of managing the family vineyard by playing ice hockey. The arrival of Theresa, a new player, will shatter Mira’s rigid view of the world, leading her to spend thrilling nights wandering through the streets of Vienna. “With a sensitive and nuanced approach, Clara Stern delivers in this debut feature a sober and solid portrait of women’s sports, skillfully blending ice hockey with the exploration of queer identity.” Starring Judith Altenberger and Alina Schaller.
Little Jaffna (Lawrence Valin, 2024)
In Paris, in the Tamil neighborhood of Little Jaffna, Michael, a young police officer, infiltrates a criminal network involved in extortion and money laundering for the Sri Lankan rebels. But the deeper he gets into the organization, the more his loyalty begins to waver in the face of one of the most powerful gangs in the capital. “With the vitality of the best thrillers, mixing action sequences and profound reflections on identity, the director takes us on a high-speed journey through a tumultuous portrait of Tamil youth in France.” Starring Kawsie Chandra and Lawrence Valin.

Silver Star (Lola Bessis, Ruben Amar, 2025)
When Billie, 20, is released from prison, she tries to help her parents and plans to rob a bank. But the heist goes wrong, and Billie ends up kidnapping Franny, a pregnant and unpredictable teenager. Together, the two girls decide to flee across the United States in search of a better future. “An electric, humorous road movie with an irresistible duo of radiant actresses. Directed by two French filmmakers, the film is a contemporary evocation of the United States, halfway between homage and a fresh take on American independent cinema.” Starring Grace Van Dien, Troy Leigh-Anne Johnson, and Tamara Fruits.
U Are the Universe (Pavlo Ostrikov, 2024)
In the near future, Andriy Melnyk works as a space trucker, transporting nuclear waste aboard his spaceship to Callisto, Jupiter’s abandoned moon. During a routine flight, Earth suddenly explodes, but Andriy survives, becoming the last human on Earth. Unless… “Conceived as a closed-door space film, it plays with the codes of romantic comedy and space opera to explore loneliness, hope, and the need for connection with tenderness and humanity. A Ukrainian debut feature, carried by the extraordinary performance of its lead actor.” Starring Volodymyr Kravchuk, Daria Plahtiy, and Alexia Depicke.

Living Large (Kristina Dufková, 2024)
Ben is twelve years old and loves cooking and eating. This year, at the beginning of the school term, he notices that the other boys have grown taller while he has only gotten rounder. Worse, all the girls have become beautiful—especially Claire, who is now stunning. What can Ben do to make Claire notice him when the other boys laugh at him? Despite his love of food, Ben decides to go on a diet. “This stop-motion debut feature, full of humor, musical interludes, and a healthy dose of sensitivity, tackles the theme of body acceptance in adolescence. A poetic coming-of-age story and an energetic ode to self-confidence.”
