Music superstars, true legends and the best newcomers make up the first batch of confirmations to celebrate the long-awaited 20th anniversary of Exit Festival, which will take place from 9-12 July 2020 at the spectacular 18th century Petrovaradin Fortress in Serbia’s Novi Sad city on the banks of the Danube. David Guetta, Tyga, James Arthur, Fatboy Slim, Boris Brejcha, Sepultura, Meduza, ARTBAT and Zhu, to name a few, will be present at one of the most beloved and award-winning international festivals that began as a peace and freedom movement back in 2000. From its revolutionary roots, EXIT has already won two Best European Festival Awards at the European Festival Awards, a Best Foreign Festival Award at the UK Festival Awards, and dozens of other awards and accolades from the most influential international festival and music media. Topping this list of confirmations is David Guetta, one of the most successful producers of the 21st century with over 50 million albums and singles sold, two Grammy Awards, and over 100 million fans on his social networks. The relationship between Guetta and EXIT has grown together on the global scene, so it’s no surprise that this great Parisian DJ is at the top of the wish list among EXIT loyalists.
Joining him on the main stage will be Tyga, the renowned “straight outta Compton” rapper, whose popularity is easily measurable thanks to his more than 30 million monthly plays on Spotify and regular topper on Billboard’s RnB/Rap charts. Tyga (Thank You God Always) is regarded as one of the most representative rappers on the scene today, in addition to his 74 singles and 7 studio albums that elevates this legend to platinum status. EXIT also welcomes another multi-billionaire in airplay, popular singer-songwriter James Arthur, who tops the UK charts and has been on Billboard’s Hot 100 on more than one occasion. Arthur is also among the 20 UK artists to have sold over 2 million singles, while his three albums over the last 7 years have spawned major hits such as Impossible, Say You Won’t Let Go, You Deserve Better, and many others.
Like Guetta, we will see another legendary producer and DJ, a showman extraordinaire who in equal measure has been part of EXIT’s 20-year long history: Fatboy Slim. After his last big tour, he returns to the EXIT main stage to once again demonstrate his well-deserved headliner status and the reason why he is considered one of the world’s most important DJs. Among the new generation of EXIT stars is Boris Brejcha, who returns with unprecedented popularity. The adored German DJ in a “Joker” mask is known for his sessions composed exclusively of his own tracks and for the massive audiences on the EXIT Dance Arena stage.
Another artist who has conquered the world with his powerful musical creativity is the Ukrainian DJ duo ARTBAT, who will be making their debut at the 20th EXIT. Arthur and Batish never cease to fascinate their fans with exceptional sets, they are number one in the Cercle charts, thanks to the success of EXIT’s own pilot version of streamings, LIFE STREAM, at the Amsterdam Dance Event. Joining them will be Meduza, considered one of the most favoured nominees for the upcoming Grammy Awards for his piece Piece of Your Heart which has already achieved over 600 million plays, platinum sales and topping the charts in the USA and UK. EXIT will also welcome the return of the mysterious DJ and producer ZHU, creator of hits such as Faded, In the Morning, Working for it and a host of singles and remixes for Lana Del Ray and Calvin Harris.
This first batch of EXIT would not be complete without guitar titans, such as the mighty Brazilian band Sepultura, the legendary metal band with more than 14 albums under their belt and melodies that have marked more than one rock generation. New Yorker Billy Milano, with his band M.O.D. (Method of Destruction), will also be present at the Petrovaradin Fortress this year, along with Russian metallers Moscow Death Brigade, the guerrilla rock of Crippled Black Phoenix, dark-wave heroes She Past Away and the British deathcore of Bury Tomorrow.
This 20th anniversary of EXIT will be celebrated by once again enjoying the great headliners who have been part of its history, the most powerful and the most daring to participate in the first editions of this festival in Serbia, a place far removed from its roots and where they have found a totally devoted audience. Yes, we are talking about the alternative rock of Kosheen and the iconic live bass music trio Roni Size and LTJ Bukem who will return to the fortress for this very special celebration.
Tickets and passes for EXIT are available through wegow.com in Spain, Portugal and all of Latin America. The festival’s official tour agency exittrip.org offers travel packages, accommodation and transfer options.
